BUSINESS PARTNER SPOTLIGHT
This quarter we spotlight Ephesus Office Technologies and spoke with owner, Cody Rushing.
Tell me about yourself: I was born and raised in the mountains of Ruidoso, NM. I enjoy fly fishing, camping and just about any other outdoor activity. I am an avid archery hunter and during September and January you can find me off chasing some type of big game. I always joke with people and tell them I am just a country boy in a suit. For going on 20 years, I have been with my wife Beth. We have a 15-year-old son who keeps us running between his football at Rio Rancho High School and his motocross races. I have been in the office equipment industry for over 21 years. Ten years ago I decided that the only way I could take care of people the way I wanted to, was to start my own company. I am very blessed to have had the opportunities that I have, I love what I do and the people that I am surrounded by.
Tell me about Ephesus. Describe the culture at Ephesus: Ephesus Office Technologies is a locally owned and operated company that sells and services multi-functional copiers, printers, scanners, and faxes in addition to cost recovery software and electronic document management to companies of all sizes. Ephesus also provides Managed I.T. Services to small and medium size businesses. Ephesus started in 2007 with four founding members and a vision to bring back the lost art of customer service, primarily by keeping support local. The Ephesus team is now 21 members strong with over 100 years of experience in the office equipment and I.T. service industries. We are like a big family that believes in having fun and working hard. Our passion is taking care of people. I believe that you have to enjoy what you do and who you are doing it with in any service oriented business. We have a saying around the office, “the goal is more important than the role.” It does not matter who you are or what position you hold, the focus is always customer service.
What is most important to you as a business owner? What is most important to me as a business owner is to hire the right people. This ensures that we continue providing a level of customer service to our clients that is unsurpassed. I always focus on treating people, both internal and our clients, the way I want to be treated.
Why did you decide to partner with the NMALA? Our partnership with the NMALA came about through our relationships with several of its members. Once I learned about the group and that many services and technology we provide are used heavily in the legal industry, I knew it would be a strong mutually beneficial partnership. We have been partners with NMALA for over seven years and all I can say is it has been awesome. What a great group of people!
How has the business partnership benefited Ephesus? Our business partnership with the NMALA has been a tremendous asset for Ephesus. We are honored that we are the service provider for several of the NMALA members. Because those members have experienced the level of service we provide and how we take care of our clients, they are a strong referral when other members have a need for our service.
If you were a breakfast food, what would you be and why? If I were a breakfast food, I would be huevos rancheros. Good blend of functionality and spice! LOL!
